Everyone can yoga

Adapted and accessible yoga.

Everyone can yoga was a project funded by Arvsfonden (the Swedish Inheritance Fund) that ran from 2021 to 2024, aiming to improve the health of people with intellectual disabilities by making yoga more accessible and widely practiced.

Everyone can yoga was carried out in close collaboration with participants from day centres, special needs schools, and residential homes. Together, we developed a style of yoga that suits the target group well, focusing on breathing, mobility, strength, balance, concentration, and relaxation.

During the project, we wrote a book, printed yoga cards, and developed training programs in accessible yoga.

With the book Yoga på ditt sätt (Yoga your way), we want to inspire more people to start practising yoga and show that yoga is for everyone. Practitioners share their experiences in the book, alongside facts, exercises, and everyday tips.

As a complement to the book, we produced yoga cards with 50 accessible exercises, as well as the website allakanyoga.org, featuring guided sessions and easy-to-read information about yoga.

We spread knowledge about accessible yoga through networking, workshops, inspiration sessions, and lectures. We also launched a secondary website, utbildning.allakanyoga.org, offering training programs and an online course.

From 2024 onwards, Everyone can yoga continues as an independent initiative, in collaboration with organisations such as FUB and Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan. We hope that the project’s accessible and inclusive yoga will continue to be shared, developed, and practiced!

The project was funded by the State Inheritance Fund.
